I am fascinated by people. The starting point for a painting is always a response to witnessing some event: a lady all in green walking her dog, a man reading a paper or enjoying a cup of tea, two people talking... I try to capture that fleeting moment, a gesture, an expression. My aim is to draw attention to moments of joy, sadness, the whole range of human feelings. By painting these people in colours corresponding to the mood they radiate, I strive to look behind the obvious image.
